About and Contact

Hudson-John Gallery brings to market carefully curated selections of modern and contemporary art, plus vintage maps, nature related antique prints, and historical works on paper, for showcase and sale in alternative spaces in the Metropolitan New York area, along with out studio in Jersey City.  Hudson-John Gallery Gallery is founded by a former Wall Street manager who gained his art experience under Michael Lucas of the renowned Phyllis Lucas Gallery, publisher of Salvador Dalí lithographs during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.

Our inventory is interestingly diverse and of the highest quality, carrying on the tradition of the now closed Phyllis Lucas Gallery, having one of largest available collections of Josef Albers and Salvador Dalí prints, and rich in works by Miro, Matisse, Calder, Braque, Carzou, Mondrian, Chagall and Rothko, along with the works of many other 20th Century and Contemporary artists.  Our collection of maps, historical and nature related art is highlighted by John James Audubon Bien and Havell Birds, and Imperial Edition of Quadrupeds of North America; maps from the 17th, 18th, and 19th Centuries, including the 1859 Valentine's publication of the celebrated 1664 "Duke's Plan" of New York City, a copy of the ultra rare Viele Topographical Map of New York City, a fine 1676 John Speed Map of Virginia and Maryland, and magnificent sets of 1838 John Frederick Lewis Constantinople lithographs and 1693 Nicolas Dorigny Raphael Loggia engravings.

Quality standards extend beyond the artworks.  All product photography is performed using a state of the art Sony A7r full frame camera equipped with sharp prime lenses, controlled lighting, and color calibration.  The camera is mounted overhead to minimize geometric distortion.  This precision process assures that imagery matches the item's color and condition.

Hudson-John Gallery's framer is an old-world master having over 30 years of experience.  Frames are handmade using museum-grade materials, including conservation matboard, conservation backing board, and Tru Vue Optium Museum Acrylic® glazing, the industry standard for clarity and UV protection.

Services include appraisal, collection management, consignment, and artist representation.
