Gilles Robert de Vaugondy (1688-1766), and his son, Didier Robert de Vaugondy (1723-1786), were leading cartographers, engravers and map publisher in France during the 18th century.  Charles Francois Delamarche (1740-1817), founded the important Paris-based Maison Delamarche publishing firm in the late 18th century.  A lawyer by trade, Delamarche entered the map business with the acquisition of Gilles Robert de Vaugondy's map printing plates, later adding plates from other sources as well.
