Original 1799 copper plate engraved, hand colored map "Carte de L' Europe" (Map of Europe) by Bertholon from the "Nouvelle Edition" (First Edition) of the "Atlas Modern Portatif" (Portable Modern Atlas).  This map is relatively accurate deptiction of Europe compared to our map of Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Carolina, and Pennsylvania from the same publication.  Consistent with the period, printed on laid paper.  Map size: 9 x 7 1/2 inches.  Very good condition; slight edge foxing does not extend into the map.
