Original, beautifully hand-colored, Thomas Kitchin engraved map of France with a decorative cartouche, printed in London circa 1770.  Consistent with its period, this map is printed on fine laid paper.  Tri-folded as issued.  Map size: 8 3/4 x 7 1/2 inches.  There is some barely visible text offsetting, which is not uncommon for atlas maps; otherwise, the map is in excellent condition.   

Thomas Kitchin (1718 – 1784), was a London-based engraver, cartographer, and publisher.  He was also a writer who wrote "The Traveller's Guide Through England and Wales", among other titles.
