Ellsworth Kelly (1923-2015) was an American artist known for his contributions to the abstract art movement.  He was born in Newburgh, New York, and studied at various art schools, including the Pratt Institute and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.  Kelly's work often focused on geometric shapes, bold colors, and simplified forms.   He gained recognition in the 1950s and 1960s for his distinctive style, which emphasized pure abstraction and minimalism.  Kelly's paintings and sculptures often explored the relationships between color, form, and space.  He was known for creating large-scale works as well as smaller pieces that showcased his meticulous attention to detail.  Kelly's art has been exhibited in numerous museums and galleries around the world, and he received many accolades during his career.  His work can be found in prestigious collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Tate Modern in London.  Ellsworth Kelly's contributions to modern art have made him one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.  His legacy continues to inspire and captivate today, with MoMA holding a special exhibition of his work in 2023.
