1941 serigraph after a 1920 watercolor by Paul Klee.  Printed in 1941 by the Creative Printmakers Group and published by the Nierendorf Gallery of New York.  The serigraph measures 8 x 6 inches and is in mint condition.

Paul Klee (1879_1940), was a Swiss-German painter and draftsman who was one of the foremost artists of the 20th century.  Though Klee belonged to no movement, he assimilated in his work most of the major art movements of his time.  Music figures prominently in his work as well as literature; his art is steeped in poetic and mythic allusion.  Klee’s work was too personal to found a school or style, but it has had wide influence.
