  • Rare 1775 French and Indian War Era map of New England, published in the General Magazine of Arts and Sciences, full title: "New England & ye Country Adjacent, Extending Northward to Quebec, & Westward to Niagara, on Lake Ontario; Shewing Gen: Shirley and Gen: Iohnson's Routs".  The map shows the area from Delaware Bay to Quebec and west to Lake Ontario.  It depicts cities, forts, rivers, lakes, portages, and the routes of the British Army marches, with inset plans of "Fort du Quesne" (Fort Duquesne, Pittsburgh), Oswego and Fort Frederick at Crown Point.   

    Framed to museum-grade standards in a handmade 1 1/8 inch wide antiqued bronze wood frame, beige linen conservation mat, and Tru Vue Optium Museum Acrylic® glazing.  Mat opening size 8 1/4 x 7 1/4 inches; overall size with frame: 14 x 13 inches.  As with all of our framed art, the frames and framing materials are new, and since framing is stored in a controlled environment away from light.  The map is in excellent condition with gentle toning; three horizontal folds as issued.  A rich presentation of a rare and important map.
