  • The encroachment of neighboring buildings has not diminished the dignified effect of St. Patrick's gothic design.  James Renwick, architect of Grace Church and St. Bartholomew's was the creator of this cathedral. Its towers, rising to a height of 330 feet, constitute its chief exterior beauty.  The tower seen on the left is that of the Helmsley Building, originally the New York Central Building, which faces Park Avenue North.  This etching was published by Bard Brothers in 1939.  Excellent condition, with a pleasing antique patina.  Sheet size 11 x 9 inches; print size 9 1/4  x 7 inches.  Contact us for framing options.

    Anton Schutz (1894 - 1977), was a German-American artist who founded of the New York Graphic Society, and is noted for his architectural etchings of that celebrate the grandeur of the modern city.
